Here we are with only two weeks left of school. During the next two weeks we will begin that process that comes each year in our transient society…saying goodbye.
Over the past few weeks the counselors have held webinars talking about changes and transitions, mainly related to supporting students and staff with the emotional and physical challenges that take place when classmates and colleagues move away. One thing we talk about is building a 'RAFT' before a transition. These are four things that we support and encourage everyone in our community to do when anyone is leaving..
RAFT stands for Reconciliation: making things right with people before we leave and to not leave problems or unresolved issues; Affirmation: ensuring you thank and appreciate the people who have helped you or had a special impact on your time here; Farewell: actually saying good-bye to both the people AND the places who were a part of our lives; and Think Destination: to start thinking about the next place and find things to get excited.
It is never easy to say goodbye to our staff or students. There have been many staff members who have had a huge impact on our students, parents and teachers Some are moving to other schools in the UAE and abroad, some following spouses to new foreign jobs, some seeking out new adventures in other parts of the world, and many other personal reasons. We are excited to wish them well in these new adventures.
All the best for the future to: Ms. Wendy, Mr. Chris, Mr. Tyler, Ms. Allie, Ms. Courtney, Ms. Jackie, Ms. Tania, Ms. Kathy, Ms. Meghan, Ms. Marcie, Mr. Gareth, Ms. Agnes, Ms. Tanisha and Ms. Jo
Kind regards,
Kristen and Chery
