Dear GWA Community, For those who were able to attend our Coffee Morning yesterday on Math in the PYP, I hope that it was both informative and of interest. It will forever be a challenge to deliver a brief overview and a broad topic to an audience of people who each come for different reasons, each looking for different answers. We strayed off topic a few times, but that was good because it shows us what the concerns and questions are surround Math. homework, and assessment. I want to thank Mr. Allen McInnnis, our Grade 4 Teacher and Math Coordinator, one more time for arranging and delivering the presentation for us. Please click through below for the resources and links we spoke of during the presentation. In the coming months we will be exploring a few other topics. We have had to rearrange some dates due to our Student-Led Conferences on March 14, so iSAMS will be shortly updated with the coming discussions topics: February 14 (“Reading – Assessing, Learning, and Progress” w/ Mr. Hart), February 28 (“Parenting in the digital age” w/ Counsellors), and April 11 (“Early Childhood” w/ external guests and Ms. Murree). |
Dear Parents,
Now is the time to make sure that your child has a front row seat to learn from the most accomplished authors and illustrators in the world. The Emirates Airlines Festival of Literature Children’s Programme has been released. You can pick-up information in the GWA Library Learning Commons or find it online here : LitFest Children's Program. Is your child a Harry Potter fan? Guinness World Records? Jacqueline Wilson? Anthony Horowitz? David Walliams? All of these and more are coming to Dubai in a few weeks. Because the workshops have such educational value, and because we wish to encourage all our families to attend, the GWA Elementary School will award house points for attending the LitFest. Book your tickets then let Miss Betty know how many sessions you attended. You will receive some lovely house points for your efforts!
