The GWA Counseling Department would like to invite parents to a re-run of the documentary: Screenagers: NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience by filmmaker and physician Dr. Delaney Ruston. This documentary was shown in December at our counselor led film and discussion event; we have the opportunity to show the film as a re-run on Tuesday, January 21 in the Planetarium from 8:15-9:30. This documentary is most suitable for parents of teenagers and may be informative for parents who are preparing for the upcoming teenage years.
This exceptional documentary examines the science behind a teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety and depression in our digital age. In this film, Dr. Delaney Ruston explores these challenges, which are so pervasive in our current screen-filled society, by providing practical insight and sound advice. She discusses how parents and educators can empower teens to overcome mental health challenges and build emotional agility, communication savvy, and stress resilience. A viewing of the documentary trailer is available here. The recommended viewing audience is grade 6 and above. Please join us on Tuesday morning from 8:15-9:30 in the GWA Planetarium if you are interested in viewing this film. Please note that this is a re-run of the film and a discussion and facilitation from our school peer mentors and counseling team will not take place following the viewing. Please RSVP your space on Tuesday by signing up here. |
Please be sure to look through our Lost and Found located near the entrance to our school cafeteria. Thank you.
