Dear GWA Community, Sorry, nothing insightful, informative, or very in-depth from me this week. As you prepare to embark on your winter holiday, from all of us on the Instructional Leadership Team, we want to express our gratitude and appreciation to you. Thank you to our students for the tremendous dedication and inspiring spirit towards their personal growth and development, despite the immense challenges our young learners have to manage and navigate though while growing up. Thank you to our parents for their support, patience and trust, and allowing us to make many important decisions in their children's social, emotional, and academic development. Thank you to our teachers for wearing their many hats as referees, therapists, comedians, bookkeepers, parents, police officers, philosophers, cheerleaders, friends, and many more. At extreme times they might feel like zoo keepers, but most of the time we just want them to know they should feel important. It takes all of us - students, parents, teachers - working together to make our school an amazing environment to thrive in. Thank you to all for making this happen. We wish you all the best and look forward to welcoming you back in January and the New Year. Take care, Jeff Hart (me) Cheryl Murree (Assistant Principal) Kristen Murphy (Assistant Principal) David Gerber (PYP Coordinator) |

Trying to maintain a healthy balance of family activities with screen time can be a challenge, yet very important. For those of you who are unsure where to start, here are some tips to keep your children balanced, connected and feeling positive about the holidays:
To make things even more official, GWA was able to use some special technologies that allowed us to monitor where students were on the track and when they finished. The information was also available on-line so parents could track their kids if they couldn’t make it to the events. However, while it was an early morning start, we still had well over a hundred parents who were able to cheer on the students. It’s not an easy event to complete, so regardless of which students placed on top or which house earned the most points, the real satisfaction and accomplishment for the students was simply competing and completing the event. Thank you once again for the staff for their hard work and parents for their support, and a congratulations to all those students for their competitive spirit and sportsmanship.
