I hope that you have all had the opportunity to rest and enjoy time with family and friends over this mini break. We are looking forward to one of the highlights of our school year next week – International Day! We hope to see as many of you as possible at this chance to share your culture and experience those of others. We are looking to add a better name to the newsletter. Our first choice is “Dragons’ Digest” (as we are all part of the Dragon family!) If we hear any more innovative and exciting suggestions we will be open to them. |
On November 1st, we have a very important day in the life of GWA. Of course we will be holding International Day hosted by GWAPA. This will be from 3pm to 7pm and we hope as many in our community can join us in this celebration of diversity. On the same day we will also be holding the GWA Open Day to showcase, for those from other schools, the very positive things going on in our school. If you have friends who have children at other schools I encourage you to let them know of this opportunity to get to see GWA. Additionally it should be noted that if they were to enrol at GWA there is the Refer a Friend rebate for our parents. It has been wonderful to see our senior students step up as leaders in the vital cause of breast cancer awareness this week. Thank you to all the GWAPA support of these students. The monies raised will be donated to Breast Cancer Research through the Red Crescent. Some parents have asked why it does not go directly to the cancer charity. Under UAE directive we can only donate to Red Crescent and Dubai Cares. These two organisations then distribute to the charities we nominate. There is a wonderful video that has been made around the message of the week here. Dear Parents, World Teacher Day Today we recognize the contribution that all teachers make to the global community with World Teachers Day being celebrated all over the globe. In fact this important day is being signified by a UNESCO Conference which is being hosted to also mark the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) which recognized education as a fundamental right for all children worldwide. UNESCO comment upon this conference as follows: |
