As we move into the last week of school I have been reflecting on the goals of the school and I have been asking myself this question - At the end of their secondary education what do we hope for our students. Simplistically there are three things that they should take away from their experience at school: Minds of their own, so that they will not be led by the nose or taken in by the shallow or merely fashionable; Eyes for others, so that they can spot those who may be in need of their attention, company and support; Backbones, so that they will, from time to time, make judgements which affirms their knowledge of what is right and wrong. |
