If your child was absent during the school photo session last week, please be advised that a Make Up Day is held Tuesday, November 1st between 8:30am and 2:00pm.
This time of year is very special for our school. It is one where the sense of community is most keenly felt. The first of the events of “the Season” is International Day. I am aware of the immense amount of hard work that GWAPA, staff and students are putting in to ensure the success of this event. What is critical is that we get our community to participate. November 4th is the big day. We hope you can make it between 3 and 7. For all new members of our community I would really encourage you to join us. I was blown away last year by the atmosphere and the sheer size of the event. If there is anyone who still wants to volunteer the members of GWAPA can direct you to the appropriate stand organizers.

If you were not able to join us this week, you are strongly encouraged to contact your child’s teacher(s) and make an appointment to discuss your child’s progress at your earliest convenience. It is my very great pleasure to be able to announce to our community that Mr Giles Pruett, our current Deputy Head of School and Acting Principal of Secondary School, has agreed to continue in the role of Principal of Secondary in 2017-18 and the foreseeable future. He will also have duties as the Deputy Head but there will be administrative arrangements made to ensure that all aspects of his role are covered. This announcement provides continued stability with the current leadership group. We believe the positive start to this academic year can now be sustained in to the future. A very interesting report has been published detailing university application trends and the University Entrance Officers’ views of different credentials (IBDP, A Levels and AP). While it has a UK focus it is well worth reading and a few of the snapshots of the report are included below. For the full document please follow the link The University Admissions Officers' Report 2016
This is a gentle reminder on the new route and parking allocation to all of our community. You have been allocated 41 new parking spaces to which you are kindly asked to park and utilize. The previous 13 parking spaces in front of the canteen area are now been allocated to GWA staff. Thank you in advance to make of this transition a success. Towards the end of the last academic year the Varkey family announced the creation of The Miriamma Varkey Award for Inspirational and Outstanding Teachers.
