This week has seen the culmination of some eighteen months of effort and planning to bring part of the GWA Connect dream to life. GWA Connect essentially ties together GWA Dubai, Switzerland, Singapore and Chicago. We have already had student exchanges between Dubai and Chicago and the other schools have joined our students on Week Without Walls. We have five of our own teachers now working in Chicago and Switzerland. We also have students who have transferred between the schools (there is automatic acceptance at each of the other schools). |
This week we have been able to showcase the school to the KHDA inspectors. We will await their outcomes. However, the inspectors have noted that “we know our school extremely well”. What we do know is that GWA is a great school which we all love and will continue to improve so that every student can take advantage of the opportunities for their future created by the environment of GWA. Scholarships: There are even more opportunities being created by GEMS who have partnered with many universities, both here in the UAE as well as overseas. There are nearly AED1bn scholarships at 130+ universities available for students. The details of scholarships It is wonderful to be back at GWA and in Dubai. I have had the delight to have spent the last couple of weeks recruiting new teachers for the next academic year. This is, of course, the most important task I have each year – finding the best teachers from around the world to teach and mentor your children. Encouragingly, this year we have seen the smallest number of teachers leaving GWA for over five years (12%!). Next week we welcome the KHDA Inspectors to GWA. We are really looking forward to the opportunity to show all of the things that we have been doing here at GWA to improve the quality of teaching and learning at the school. I would ask any parents who have not done so to complete the parent survey for KHDA. https://khda.gov.ae/Parents/Survey/Index Have a great weekend!
