This has been an exciting week where we have been celebrating the evolution of one of our core pillars at GWA: Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Environmentalism. On Tuesday we hosted the official opening of The Hub – our centre for entrepreneurship. On the first floor of the main building this creative space provides a place for students to collaborate and develop ideas and to incubate entrepreneurial concepts. The Hub was officially opened by Dino Varkey, CEO of GEMS Education and attended by a wide range of some of the most influential names in entrepreneurship in the Middle East. Helen Al Uzazi, our Director of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Environmentalism (herself highly recognised by Entrepreneurship Magazine in recent awards) led the event which was highlighted by a number of students making their “pitch” for their ideas as well as “fireside chats” with two entrepreneurs. The centre has already signed a number of agreements with Venture Capital groups which will allow our students to develop their ideas fully. Additionally the entrepreneurship curriculum is rolling out in all grades with the aim of developing an entrepreneurship mindset in all students. |
Reports will be released today for all students. This is an important opportunity for you to sit down with your child(ren) and get them to explain to you how they feel about their performance and how they can make further progress. It will also be the focus of further conversations between you and their homeroom teacher/advisor.
I hope everyone has a well deserved break and we will see you back at school on the 16th of February.
